Bramhall Ranger 5 Omatha 9
Good Morning gentleman, this report is the first to be broadcasted from my own blog. Welcome, its a first I know but I did try to log on to the Rangers site last night but the old gremlins arose. The belch family.co.uk and a blank sheet confronted me so I used my best judgement.
The game started with a quick goal from Omatha which was not the best start for a game that kicked off at 9.30pm, was cold and wet. A second goal follow and then we began to shore things up at the back and Mini score our opener.
The game continued for a long time with the team defending well at keeping it at 2-1. The errors were made in conseeding goals at the back, many were mine and when they happen I always feel gutted especially when I've made more problems for other people. I must say that the players I noticed for their effort and improvement going forward were Nev and Shiz. Nev was getting forward through the centre a lot more than his average game and he seemed to be able to control the ball better. Shiz right from the off made a darting run from Belch's throw out past two players and into the opposition corner. You battled well and managed to partner Mini for a period in the game when Peter and Mini were off the pitch.
Mark played with more skill, I little less pace than average but he made up for it with more control and positional play. He seems to not rush the passes as much. I don't know what you did to the guy on the corner but it looked to everyone like you'd punched or elbowed him in the face. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all that but well done Mark you can show me what you did on Sunday afternoon. This was ofcourse revenage for the foul on you in the first half, thrown to the ground by that Mat (Henri) guy you faked a back injury to get one of theirs sent off and then lauched in to the next Omatha you could find.. shameful.
John, I don't really know what to say but what a string of goals you seem to be massing lately, I know we've been starved of your scoring ways but 2 in one game I'm begining to wet myself. But in a good way. I'd rather be sitting in a puddle of my own urine with a few wins to our names than soiling myself over which of us gets second spot in the golden boot.
Mini, I'm not always good at this kind of thing but I did pick up that fact that if we had a proper medical you might not have past it this week. You played supurb but I think I'm right in saying your ankles were giving you some trouble. Thanks for playing on. On a lighter note we wouldn't be were we are in the league without Mini and by that I mean goal difference.
Belch, get out field
Shiz, I've already mentioned you.
My own view is that I hope we do get a win soon as we are statistically due one very soon and I don't mean just against Cheadle. We have a good group of lads who if we play to are best we can push teams. This will not always happen in practice as players have good days and bad one. No one expects greatness just the willness to listen, learn and if nothing else work for each other. Trust is vital and that is were I feel I let people down. But on the plus side of things I felt in the second half i was stronger and I have to mention it, that little bit of positional and close ball control that avaded 3 players before I got the shot aways was the best bit of skill I have played in a long time.
I'm looking forward to next week however we play and my I say a thank you to Mini for the reports each week I do enjoy them on a Friday morning and I also agree we should take turns. Not just to give Mini a rest but because like I'm doing now it just gives us the chance to air our views and hopeful take some thought from it.

O yes Mini 3, Pie 5 I mean 2.
Pardon?
Anyway, nice report and it is good to hear from others points of view. When the blog is up and running you can move it over there.
I thought we played well in difficult conditions and had them rattled on many occassions.
It was criminal to go 2 goals down so quickly. We don't half make things hard for ourselves. They did nothing spoecial and were not make to work for them either which makes it harder to accept.
Just a note Peter, you mention the incident with "that little bit of positional and close ball control that avaded 3 players before I got the shot aways was the best bit of skill I have played in a long time.", which whilst good was the first time in a long time that it came off. Please don't think this should give you free reign to do try it every time as your success rate is very very poor. On the other hand, you seem to realise where you made errors, which is the most important part of trying to put them right. Try and focus on them for next week.
Other than that you battled hard and played well.
The Henry Felling Challenge rolls over again, but maybe last night was the best chance with the slippery conditions?
Cheadle next week and possibly 8 Rangers to play. Temptations to stay on the picth too long will need to be tempered.
Well played guys.
:)
Fixed the Rangers blog. No worries!
Anyway nice little report. A tad short on actual details, but none the less... :)
Thought overall we played well (both in attack and defence) but that a stupid few mistakes cost us the game.
The big thing that came out of the game for me was how to tackle their players (and this should be the same for all teams). Stand them up, don't dive in, but don't stand too far off the opposition to let them run at you. If you stand them up but put a little pressure on them, they will generally be forced backwards or into making a pass, which can then be intercepted.
A number of times they started getting frustrated with this, and both my goals and a couple of chances came from pressuring their players in their own half.
Just a thought for the future...
